Bogoda Wooden Bridge In Badulla District

The construction of the Bogoda Wooden Bridge runs to the era of Kandy. The cave temple with frescoes which is in close proximity of the bridge had been build during the regime of the Walagamba. Three strong wooden pillars are fixed across Gallanda Oyo to build the bridge. The unique feature of the bridge is that, in construction not a single nail has been used. Not only that this is the only bridge that is found in Sri Lanka with a wooden roof. The route to Bogoda Wooden Bridge begins from Hail Ela Junction which is on the Colombo – Badulla highway. Turning on the Hali Ela Junction and one has to travel 3 km passing the Jangulla to reach the wonderful creation.
